Foundation 3: The Unconditional Love of God

The final foundation of my theology is the largest and, somehow, the most controversial.

God loves unconditionally.

Most Christians would likely wholeheartedly agree with this relatively vague notion of unconditional love.

However, as we have done with the other foundations, let us take this concept to its logical conclusions.

God loves each and every person without condition. This means that no matter what you have thought, acted, or intended, God loves you. He always forgives you when you perform outside of his desires. He will always take you back into his arms, and it DOESN’T MATTER what you think about it. It’s unconditional.

This means that you do not need to believe in Him, for him to love and accept you. This means that you do not need to say a prayer, accept Jesus into your heart, speak in tongues, or even be a good person, for God to love you and accept you. There is nothing in the universe that you could possibly do to separate yourself from God. No matter how dirty you think you are, God is holding you trying to tell you how much your dirt really helps your dimples stand out when you smile at him.

Somehow this has been the most difficult concept for humanity to accept about God. God is love. God doesn’t love sometimes, or maybe, or if this, or because of that. He simply loves, is love, and does love, always and unconditionally.

As I read scripture I come across examples of Christ trying so hard to tell us this about God. Albeit Jesus does sometimes use the colloquial language to get his point across, but that’s a subject for a different blog.

If you’re reading this, I want you to really contemplate what the word unconditional means, and how much of your understanding of what sin is would simply evaporate because it stands as a condition under which you believe God somehow loves you less.

It is this foundation alone which has driven my work to show that sin is not what humans have made it out to be. Be free, reader. Free from yourselves and your notions of what is holding you back from God, because guess what? God loves you. No matter what you’ve done or thought about yourself or him.

Rejoice and love more freely, knowing that you are loved.

P.S. This does not mean that there are no consequences to your actions.

  1. I was curious if you ever thought of changing the page layout of your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or 2 pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?
